The Central Conference on Work Relating to Foreign Affairs in 2023 incisively summarized the principles of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics, proposed advocating an equal and orderly multipolar world and a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, established the noble goal pursued by China's diplomacy in the new era, and clarified the "four beams and eight columns" scientific system for building a community with a shared future for mankind. The first Central Conference on Work Related to Neighboring Countries in 2025 proposed the common vision of building "five homes" — peace, tranquility, prosperity, beauty, and friendship — pointing out the direction for building a community with a shared future in the neighborhood.

New theoretical developments guide new diplomatic practices, pushing major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics into a new stage where more can be accomplished, serving the great cause of building a strong country and national rejuvenation with clearer historical consciousness. The centralized and unified leadership of the Party Central Committee over external work has been comprehensively strengthened; the Law on Foreign Relations and the Regulations on the Party’s Leadership over Work Relating to Foreign Affairs have been formulated and promulgated successively, and the pattern of great coordination in external work has been further consolidated.
