(Xinhua) Beijing, August 29 — The Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee convened a meeting on August 29 to deliberate the Regulations on the Ideological and Political Work of the Communist Party of China and to study the draft Law of the People’s Republic of China on Promoting Ethnic Unity and Progress. It stressed the need to uphold a people-centered development philosophy, always put the safety of people’s lives first, and firmly hold the bottom line that development must not come at the expense of safety. We must precisely prevent and defuse safety risks, make all-out efforts in emergency response, rescue, and disaster relief, and promptly and properly resettle those affected. All regions and departments must resolutely fulfill their responsibilities for production safety, remain vigilant in ensuring production safety and the prevention of natural disasters, and better coordinate high-quality development with high-level safety.
